Discover Machu Picchu with this 2 day affordable tour from Cusco by car. Visit the Inca Citadel in a budget by taking an alternative route by car and avoid more expensive train fares.
This tour is a perfect alternative for those visitors who are looking for an “all include” less expensive tour to Machu Picchu with a mini trek (also know as mini Inca train) to reach the mythical Inca citadel.
On the first day of this tour you will be picked up from your hotels in Central Cusco towards Machu Picchu Hidroelectrica in a 4/5 hours journey. Then you will make a full of emotions self trek from the hidrolectric to Machu Picchu Town where you will be stayed for the night.
On the second ay you will visit the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu early in the morning where you will be able to have a guide visit before visit the site on your own. After the visit you will go back to Machu Picchu Hidroelectrica to take your vehicle back to Cusco.

You will be picked at your hotel within Central Cusco between 7:00am and 7:45am with a minibus to go towards Machu Picchu Hidroelectrica. Along the way will see the different and beautiful Andes mountain landscapes as you will be traveling from the high Andes mountains area to the lower mountain forest area.
You will stop at Santa Teresa at round 1:30pm where you will take a lunch.
Then you will continue your journey to Hidrolectrica where you will arrive around 3:00pm.
From there you will star your 2.5/3h trek (also know as mini Inka Trek) through a friendly forest following the railways towards Aguas Calientes.
Visitors who do not want to walk, they can add the optional train ticket between Hidroelectrica and Aguas Calientes (outbound or/and inbound) as extra during the booking process.
Once arrived to Aguas Calientes a member of the staff will lead you to your hostel (or 3 stars hotel if upgraded as extra during the booking process). Then if you want you will be able to go to the optional hot springs (entrance can be paid on the spot) to relax before your diner at the evening.
On this second day you will wake up early in the morning and after your breakfast you will start the walk towards the Citadel of Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes at around 4.30am.
The walk between these two points takes around 1h30m as Aguas Calientes is on the bottom of a mountain and Machu Picchu is located on the top. Visitors who do not want to walk up can book as extra the optional bus ticket during the booking process.
Once arrive to Machu Picchu you will meet your guide to star your 2 hours guided tours of the Citadel. If you are lucky enough with the weather (and if you book your tickets enough in advance to get 6am ticket slot) you will be able to see the sunrise.
At the end of the guided visit will have time to visit Machu Picchu on your own and take some pictures.
You will also be able to hike one f the mountains if you booked this option as extra during the booking process.
After your visit you should go back to Aguas Calientes by 11:30pm by walk or by bus (if you book this optional bus ticket as extra during the booking process).
In Aguas Calientes you will start your trek back to Hidroelectrica where the driver with a minibus we be waiting for you. If you do not want to do this trek back, you can add as extra a 35mn train ticket between Aguas Caleintes and Hidrolectrica.
You should arrive back to Cusco at around 9:30pm where you will be dropped off in Plaza Regocijos (Central Cusco).
