Machu Picchu is reached by one of three ground legs — the Inca Trail, the long drive through Hidroeléctrica, or the standard train route via Ollantaytambo. The last stretch, from Aguas Calientes up to the citadel, is only reachable by foot or by Consettur bus. Peruways sells the Consettur ticket online.
The Consettur ride is 30 minutes, 13 switchbacks, almost 400 m of climb through cloud forest. Departures run every 10 minutes from 5:30 a.m., which lines up with the first entry wave at 6 a.m. The road is open to Consettur only — no private vehicles.
If you’re coming from Cusco or the Sacred Valley for the day, Peruways also books the ground transfer and train that get you to Aguas Calientes in the first place, so the whole chain is in one booking.
Reserve your Consettur ticket at Peruways and skip the on-site queue, which in June–August can run 45 minutes.
