The Machu Picchu entry system has tightened over the past three years, and the ticket you need depends on what you want to do. Peruways sells all current options.
The standard ticket covers one of three timed circuits — Circuit 1 is the lower route and requires a guide; Circuit 2 covers the Temple of the Sun and main terraces; Circuit 3 is the upper route with access to the mountain climbs. Entry slots run hourly from 6am to 2pm.
Combined tickets add one of the three permitted climbs: Huayna Picchu (the famous sugarloaf peak behind the citadel, 2,720 m, steep stairs with cables), Machu Picchu Mountain (longer, gentler, wider view, 3,082 m), or Huchuy Picchu (shorter, lower, often overlooked). Each has 400 permits a day across two morning windows, and all three sell out six to eight weeks ahead in June, July and August.
Peruways’ booking page shows live availability. We bundle the entry with the train, bus and guide. Reserve at Peruways.
