Pair Vinicunca and Machu Picchu in a single week and you cover Peru’s two most-visited sites — the striped geological ridge at 5,036 m and the 15th-century Inca royal estate at 2,430 m. Peruways runs both as single bookings.

Vinicunca is a day trip from Cusco: 3am departure, three-hour drive, 3 km each way to the viewpoint. The colours are iron oxide, copper and iron sulphide in sedimentary rock, uncovered when the glacier retreated around 2015. Horses available on the steep sections.

Machu Picchu is a full day, two if you add Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Train from Ollantaytambo (around 1h30 along the Urubamba), Consettur bus up from Aguas Calientes (25 minutes on 13 switchbacks), timed entry on one of the four circuits introduced in 2021.

Peruways runs both with licensed guides, Spanish and English speakers, in a single itinerary. Allow at least five days in Cusco overall — acclimatise before Vinicunca, visit Machu Picchu with 2,430 m already feeling easy.

Book at Peruways. Dry-season dates (May–September) fill six to eight weeks out.
