The last leg of a Machu Picchu trip is the Consettur bus from Aguas Calientes up the mountain to the main entrance. Peruways books the ticket alongside your train and entry permit so the chain is set before you land.
The Consettur bus service
Consettur has the single concession to run the shuttle up the Hiram Bingham road. The buses are modern, well-maintained, and climb the 25-minute switchback route from Aguas Calientes to the citadel entrance. Windows are large for the view through the cloud forest on the way up.
Departures
Buses leave frequently — every 10 to 15 minutes during peak hours — from before dawn through to mid-afternoon. If you want to be inside the citadel at first light, line up with the pre-dawn departure; if you prefer a quieter afternoon, the later services land you there after the main group has left.
Peruways on top of it
Peruways books the Consettur ride, the matching Machu Picchu entry permit, the train from Cusco or Ollantaytambo, and (if you want one) a licensed Cusco-based guide. One booking covers the whole chain.
Book the day
Plan the Machu Picchu trip with Peruways and the day runs cleanly — no last-minute standby queues at the Aguas Calientes stop, no mismatched entry times. Peruways handles the booking.
With Peruways on the logistics, your Machu Picchu day stays focused on the ruins themselves.
