Machu Picchu Mountain is the taller of the two peaks at the citadel — around 3,082m, roughly 650m above the ruins. The trail is steep stone steps most of the way, and takes two to three hours up.

From the summit you look straight down on the citadel and across to Huayna Picchu, usually with cloud drifting through the gorge below. It’s less crowded than Huayna Picchu — fewer permits sold daily — and the trail is wider.

Peruways arranges the full day from Cusco: train to Aguas Calientes, Consettur shuttle to the citadel, Machu Picchu Mountain permit, and a guide if you want one. Permits are separate from the citadel ticket and sell out in high season.
