Singrenacocha is a glacier-fed lake near the Ausangate massif, south of Cusco. Fewer tourists make it this far — the lake sits at about 4,780 m and takes a full day from Cusco — but the water is a vivid turquoise and the setting is quiet. PeruWays runs guided day tours out there.
The day starts with a scenic drive from Cusco through Checacupe and up past Pitumarca, climbing through villages where Quechua is the first language. From the drop-off point it’s a 30–45 minute walk around the lake shore, flat enough for anyone acclimatized to the altitude. The water reflects the Ausangate glacier (6,384 m), and the colors shift as the sun moves.
PeruWays provides the vehicle, driver, and a Spanish-English guide who can talk through the geology and the local herding economy. Book your Singrenacocha day tour at Peruways.
