Vinicunca — the Rainbow Mountain — sits at 5,200m in the Peruvian Andes, about three hours southeast of Cusco by road. Peruways runs day trips to the summit.

The striping — red, orange, green, deep blue — comes from iron oxide and other mineral deposits in sedimentary layers that Andean uplift tilted vertical. Vinicunca was covered by glacier until around 2015; the melt exposed what’s now the main view.

Peruways’ guides handle the route (6 km round trip from the trailhead), the altitude (5,200m is higher than any peak in Western Europe), and horse rentals if needed. Guides cover the geology, local Quechua herding culture, and the Ausangate massif visible from the summit.
