Rainbow Mountain, or Vinicunca, is a geological curiosity in the Peruvian Andes about 100 km south of Cusco. Peruways runs full-day guided tours — transport, meals, guide, horses available if you prefer not to walk the full hike.

The viewpoint sits at 5,036 m; the hike gains about 350 m from the trailhead, over roughly 5 km round trip. Allow 1.5–2 hours up, less coming down. The stripes of color come from mineral deposits in the sedimentary rock — iron, sulfur, chlorite, and copper — exposed by melting ice.

Peruways times the departure to arrive before the midday tour-bus crowd. Book your Rainbow Mountain day with Peruways and build in two nights of Cusco acclimatization first.
