The Sacred Valley — the Valle Sagrado — stretches between Pisac and Ollantaytambo along the Urubamba River. It was the Inca’s agricultural heartland and holds some of the best preserved ruins outside Machu Picchu.

Peruways’ day tours cover the fixed stops: Pisac’s hilltop ruins and Sunday market, Moray’s experimental circular terraces, the Maras salt pans worked by local families, and Ollantaytambo’s fortress at the valley’s western end. Lunch is usually in Urubamba.

Book the Sacred Valley day with Peruways. The usual pairing is: Sacred Valley day, overnight in Ollantaytambo, morning train to Machu Picchu.
