The Cusco-to-Machu Picchu train is more than transit. The route cuts through the Peruvian Andes with scenery changing from highland town to cloud forest in a few hours.
You leave from Cusco, the old Inca capital, and roll past mountains, farmland, and Andean villages. The scenery is the point, and the big windows exist for a reason.
The line ends at Aguas Calientes, below Machu Picchu. From there the shuttle bus climbs the final switchbacks to the citadel, where you walk the terraces, temples, and ridgelines.
Peruways runs service tiers from standard to premium, with guides on the better services. Book at Peruways.
