Machu Picchu’s Incan citadel sits high in the Andes and pulls visitors from everywhere. Getting in now takes a bit of planning — here’s what matters.
Ticket Types and Availability
The Ministry of Culture sells tickets by circuit and timed slot, with a daily cap. Book early for the May–September dry season — same-week tickets routinely sell out. There’s the standard citadel entry, plus limited add-ons for Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain if you want the higher viewpoints.
Planning Your Visit
Early slots (6–8 a.m.) are quieter and give you the mist-off-the-ridge photos. A licensed guide for the first two hours is the single best upgrade — the stonework makes a lot more sense once someone walks you through it.
Booking Made Easy
Rather than juggling the government portal, PeruRail, and the Consettur shuttle separately, Peruways bundles entrance, guide, and transport in one booking.
Lock the ticket early, pick a sensible slot, and you’re set for one of the great archaeological sites.
