Cusco and Machu Picchu sit at opposite ends of a day’s travel, and together they are the core of nearly every Peru itinerary. Peruways handles both.
Cusco was the Inca capital — the “navel” from which the empire was administered. The modern city is layered on top of the Inca one: colonial churches built directly over Inca walls, the Qoricancha sun temple half-buried under Santo Domingo, and the massive polygonal stonework of Sacsayhuamán on the hill above town.
From Cusco it’s a two-hour descent into the Sacred Valley, then a 90-minute train ride through the Urubamba gorge to Machu Picchu. Peruways coordinates transfers, trains, and guided tours of both sites.
