The two-day Inca Trail is the condensed version of the classic four-day trek — the same dramatic final-day approach into Machu Picchu, minus the two mountain-pass days. Peruways runs it as a guided itinerary with permits included.
You start at Kilometre 104 of the rail line, reached by a short train ride from Ollantaytambo. The trail climbs through cloud forest past Wiñay Wayna, a terraced site halfway up with its own ceremonial baths, before cresting at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) and descending into the citadel.
Peruways’ Ministry of Culture-licensed guides cover the archaeology along the route and the context of what you see when you arrive — staging posts, Inca road construction, agricultural terracing.
Overnight in Aguas Calientes, then a full guided tour of Machu Picchu on Day Two.
Permits are capped daily and sell out months ahead in high season. Peruways handles the application.
