Machu Picchu Mountain is the taller of the two peaks flanking the citadel — 3,082 metres at the summit, with a steady 90-minute to 2-hour climb from the main site. It’s the quieter alternative to Huayna Picchu on the opposite side.
The trail is a long stone staircase, less exposed than Huayna Picchu but longer in distance. From the top you look down the full length of the Urubamba valley with the ruins laid out below.
Peruways runs guided ascents with permits included — Machu Picchu Mountain permits are capacity-controlled and sold separately from the main site ticket. Book early.
Peruways also handles the transfers from Cusco or the Sacred Valley, the Aguas Calientes shuttle, and the site entry.
